About Mannavini

Mannavini was established in 1996 by Pier Giorgio Manna to sell the finest wines that Italy has to offer. Every item we offer is hand-selected by Pier for its rich taste and quality. He has over 50 years of experience as a passionate food and wine expert and enjoys sharing his knowledge with anyone interested in authentic Italian food, wines, and spirits.

Pier Giorgio Manna

Pier Giorgio Manna has worked in the restaurant business since 1964, including owning and operating several restaurants in northern Italy for approximately 25 years. His charisma and leadership were also officially recognized by colleagues and authorities. In 1980 he was elected the first President of the newly founded Trentino's Restaurant Association. His masterpiece as a restaurateur is the well-known "Ristorante da Silvio," located in San Michele all'Adige, near Trento in the heart of the Dolomite Mountains. It was designed and decorated by Riccardo Schweizer, a famous local artist. Learn more about “da Silvio” here.

Pier is also a certified Professional Sommelier. In 1974, upon completion of over three years of courses, practices, and exams, he passed the final test and was certified as Professional Sommelier by the Italian Association of Sommeliers. His passion for fine wine is still alive and well today.
In 1993, Pier moved to Manhattan to work as a consultant and helped open "The Pasta Place," a restaurant concept based on freshly made pasta. The following year, he took the position of Wine Director and Sommelier at Felidia Restaurant in New York City.
In 1996, Pier moved to Austin, TX, and started distributing good Italian wines—and that is where Mannavini’s story begins. Over the years, we’ve become the trusted name in wine distribution across Texas. We look forward to helping you find the perfect products to meet your needs.

Ristorante de Silvio

Pier’s family has been involved with his restaurant ventures for decades, starting with “Da Giorgio” in Levico in the fall of 1970. In particular, his brothers Franco and Marcello took charge of the kitchen. However, it eventually became clear that “Da Giorgio” was too small for the Manna family. Thus, in November 1972, they purchased “Ristorante da Silvio” (named after the previous owner), a larger restaurant in San Michele all’Adige about 50 miles north of Levico
